About
Who writes here and what turns up.
I build games and applications, and I write about both here — the design notes I would otherwise lose, the engineering decisions worth explaining, and occasionally something with no code in it at all.
What you will find#
- Game Dev — systems design, devlogs, and the long road to a shipped game.
- App Dev — architecture, tooling and hard-won lessons from building software.
- Personal — process, notes, and everything that is not code.
New posts appear in the RSS feed the moment they publish.
How this site counts visits#
I keep a rough count of what gets read, because writing into a void is dispiriting. It runs on the same server as the blog and it is deliberately incurious.
- No cookies are set for counting, and no third party is involved — no
Google Analytics, no trackers, no scripts loaded from anywhere but here.
- Your IP address is never written down. A visit is stored as a hash of
your address, your browser's user-agent string and a salt that is thrown away and replaced every night. The same reader tomorrow is a different, unlinkable number.
- What that leaves is what I actually wanted: which page was read, which site
linked here (the domain only, never the full address), what was typed into the search box, and a coarse browser, system and device label.
There is nothing in it that identifies you, nothing that follows you from one day to the next, and nothing that follows you off this site. If you would still rather not be counted, blocking JavaScript for this domain is enough — the counter is the only script here that does anything of the kind.
